Stuck Together Pieces! Special Spring Viewing at 1014 New York

The exhibition Elias Wessel: Stuck Together Pieces!is currently on view and 1014 together with the Consulate General of the Federal Republic of Germany New York invite you to a special Spring viewing with the artist on May 7, 2017. In the 1950s, Germany purchased the building from James W. Gerard, US Ambassador to Germany until 1917, and strong believer in the transatlantic partnership. During the following 50 years, the building served as the Goethe-Institut, and saw renowned artists, politicians and public intellectuals, such as Willy Brandt, Andy Warhol, and Susan Sontag. It‘s the place where Hannah Arendt and Uwe Johnson have met. Günter Grass was there, Rainer-Werner Fassbinder and Volker Schlöndorff, Wim Wenders and Jürgen Habermas. Exhibitions included Max Beckmann (1968) and Candida Höfer (2004). In 2016-17, the exhibition is dedicated to the work of Elias Wessel, highlighting his Landscapes, Cityscapes, Feral, Liebstand Sprung in die Zeitseries’.
